Yep, yet again it's been about one decade since i last ventured onto dA. Shame really, but i can never keep on top of all the deviations etc.
Life has changed a lot. I'm now working for a local college as a Technical Apprentice on the photographic/film/sound equipment stores as well as printing department. I absolutely love it. My job is very diverse from week to week, I work with lovely people and I have the awesome position to have access to some of the finest camera equipment on the market (as well as some older lovely large & medium format cameras).
As part of my apprenticeship I'm am also getting one-to-one tuition with professional freelance photographer on a weekly basis, who has worked with some very big names over the last 25 years.
Because of my very lucky opportunity I am totally sucking up as much knowledge & experience of photography/cameras as I possibly can.
My knowledge and photography skills have improved greatly in the last few months & I look at the way images are constructed, as well as their technical possibilities and limitations in a totally different light. I've taught myself for the last 5 years but I only know what I know so Im really not taking my opportunity lightly.
Outside of work Ive been photographing less, but with more precision I feel. I feel more accomplished now, with ideas buzzing around stopping me from sleeping on an almost nightly basis.
I have lot of new work to upload partly why I signed in, but also to delete all the old crap that I upload before.
Outside of work I took a huge step & moved out for the first time, from my parents place and now live with my girlfriend Kate (of 11 months) and weve lived together in Newton Abbot since June 2009. We work so well its often truly indiscernible. We are a big rock for one another.
With my ever decreasing bank balance I think it will be a long time before I get to create a new website for my work Its something I really want to push with but due to my £2.56 wage Its hard to even start saving. Still, as Ive always said, Id rather love my job & get paid less than vice versa. And plus on the upside my pay will be going up and up over the next 12 months
Give us a shout if youre reading this Id like to know if anyone actually does. I write this not only to publicise me but its also really fun just to read my old journals & reflect upon the past.
Thank you and good night
Marto
